The History of
Healing Winds VermontOUR HISTORY
With the launch of Healing Winds in 2014, those living with cancer had a new opportunity for support. Sailor Glen Findholt, whose wife passed after a courageous battle with cancer, knew first-hand the sometimes overwhelming task being a caregiver could be. Glen accepted the responsibility suggested by a cancer survivor to help launch an exciting new cancer support nonprofit, and Healing Winds Vermont was founded!
With over 40 years of experience sailing on Lake Champlain, and holding a USCG 100 Ton Master’s license, Glen served as Lead Captain and on the board for 4 years.
Focusing equally on both those with cancer and caregivers, those living with cancer now had the opportunity to experience the tremendous relief sailing provides. The wind filling the sail, on the water, together with loved ones is therapeutic and healthful.
Today, Healing Winds Vermont is committed to continuing the legacy of our founder by serving those who battle cancer, one sail at a time. As the organization grows and flourishes, we continually explore ways to expand our mission by offering new resources for health and wellness support to those living with cancer.
